Estate Champions
What are estate champions?
- Estate Champions are residents who work closely with our Estate Management and Neighbourhood Services teams to improve their local area. They are an extra pair of eyes and ears on their estates, reporting any problems so that they get resolved as quickly as possible.
- As Estate Champions live on their estates they often notice problems before L&Q become aware of them. Estate Champions provide a formal link between L&Q and Estates. As well as reporting issues, L&Q staff regularly contact and meet Estate Champions to discuss local issues.
- Estate Champions regularly join L&Q Staff on estate inspections. By taking responsibility for reporting problems Estate Champions are able to ensure that we are able to respond quickly to improve the quality of life for our residents.
The role of the Estate Champion can include some or all of the following:
- Assist with estate inspections either independently or with Neighbourhood Services Officers (NSOs)
- Participate in estate action planning and suggestions for environmental improvements
- Provide feedback on L&Q contractors direct to NSOs
- Provide a formal point of contact between the Estate and L&Q
- Assisting in Estate Clean-up events
One Estate Champion from the South East Neighbourhood said: I've been doing this for a few months now and I really feel as if I have helped make a difference in my neighbourhood. I meet my Housing Officer every four to six weeks and we do a walkabout of the neighbourhood.
L&Q wants to involve as many residents as possible in the management of their own communities. If you are interested in becoming an Estate Champion, please contact us.
